Wolves vs Birmingham preview - Sako fighting to be fit for derby

Bakary Sako is fighting to be fit for Wolves' Midlands derby with Birmingham after a groin injury.

He was forced to miss last week's 2-1 win at Leeds but the seven-goal forward hopes to make his return at Molineux after training on Thursday.

Leon Clarke is also pushing to start following his winner at Elland Road while Liam McAlinden is in contention after being recalled from his loan at Fleetwood.

Goalkeeper Aaron McCarey is out with a back injury and is not expected to return for another couple of months.

Birmingham boss Gary Rowett takes charge for the first time after being appointed on Monday.

The former Burton chief has no fresh injury concerns but Demarai Gray (ankle) is struggling and David Edgar is suspended.

Rowett takes control with Blues second bottom of the Sky Bet Championship after just two wins this season.

He told the club's official website: "I just want the players to enjoy themselves and to go out and play with real enthusiasm."
