Bury vs Cambridge preview - Mixed news for Shakers

Posted Friday, October 31, 2014 by PA

Bury have lost a couple of players this week ahead of their home fixture with Cambridge at the JD Stadium.

Striker Clive Platt, 37, announced his retirement on Wednesday due to a persistent calf problem which restricted him to just two brief substitute appearances this season.

While in the same day, teenage midfielder Duane Holmes was recalled by Huddersfield after making seven appearances - all off the bench.

At least full-back Joe Widdowson returned to the club this week after his loan spell at Morecambe ended. Striker Daniel Nardiello has an outside shot of returning from injury after suffering from a groin problem in recent weeks.

Cambridge have no new injury worries going into the trip, with Ian Miller and Issaga Diallo the only absentees.

Miller has yet to feature this season and it is not known if he will return before the new year, as he continues to recover from an Achilles operation.

Meanwhile, striker Diallo has not been seen since limping off after just 13 minutes at Wycombe just over a month ago.
