Crawley Town vs Crewe Alexandra preview - Crawley check on Elliott

Posted Friday, October 31, 2014 by PA

Crawley will check on Marvin Elliott ahead of the visit of Crewe.

Midfielder Elliott was forced to miss last weekend's 1-1 draw at Gillingham due to a minor groin injury.

Ryan Dickson remains the only definite absentee as he continues his recovery from a knee injury, so Rotherham loanee Mat Sadler will continue to deputise at left-back.

Midfielder Jimmy Smith and striker Izale McLeod could return to the starting line-up after dropping to the bench against the Gills.

Steve Davis' Crewe squad could be seriously depleted as the Alex boss has several concerns for the trip.

He will definitely be without suspended duo George Ray and Anthony Grant, who serve respective three-game and one-match bans following cards in the loss to Sheffield United last weekend.

Both defender Liam Nolan (groin) and forward Ryan Colclough (hernia) are long-term absentees, while Davis has vowed to take no chances with the head and neck injuries Brad Inman suffered against the Blades.

To compound matters, loanees Jamie Ness (calf) and Alan Tate (groin) picked up problems in training and a sickness bug is affecting captain Matt Tootle and midfielder Chris Atkinson.
