Blackburn Rovers vs Reading preview - Same again for Rovers

Posted Friday, October 31, 2014 by PA

Blackburn have reported no new injury or suspension concerns prior to Reading's visit to Ewood Park.

Rovers have often been struck down by problems ahead of various contests in the recent past, but boss Gary Bowyer can mull over some welcome selection posers for the first time in a while.

None of the three long-term absentees are ready to return, though, with full-back Tommy Spurr (groin), midfielder Jason Lowe (foot) and striker Chris Brown (knee) all still sidelined.

Striker Rudy Gestede should be recalled to the starting line-up having scored his sixth goal of the season off the bench against Nottingham Forest.

Reading will be without defender Michael Hector, who serves a one-match ban after collecting five yellow cards this season.

Midfielder Danny Guthrie will also be missing after the calf injury which has hindered him all season flared up again in training last Friday.

But Anton Ferdinand (hamstring) and Danny Williams (knee) are close to making their first appearances of the campaign after coming through run-outs for the club's under-21 side on Monday.

Garath McCleary (back), Jem Karacan, Shaun Cummings and Craig Tanner (all knee) remain on the sidelines.
