Torino vs Parma preview - Donadoni future uncertain

Parma coach Roberto Donadoni is facing an uncertain future ahead of his side's game at Torino on Wednesday.

The Ducale club go into their midweek encounter in Turin after losing five consecutive league games and seven of eight overall.

Sunday's 3-1 reverse at home to Sassuolo, which left Parma at the foot of the standings with just three points, piled further pressure on Donadoni.

Frustrated Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi has sent his players and coaches to train away from the city in a bid to turn around their flagging fortunes.

"I have decided that it was necessary to send the team immediately to train away from Parma," Ghirardi said. "We all need to be united.

"Defending our Serie A status must be our only aim."

Donadoni's side has conceded a league-high 20 goals.

Parma will have extra incentive to beat Torino because of the events that unfolded at the end of the last campaign.

Torino finished one place behind Donadoni's team last season but were allowed to take Parma's spot in the Europa League after the Gialloblu were denied a UEFA licence due to financial irregularities.

Toro are unbeaten in Europe so far and lead their group but have struggled to make an impact on the domestic front.

Giampiero Ventura's side have won just two of their opening eight games and Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Lazio was their fourth loss as they sit 13th in Serie A.

"We need to work hard and improve," Ventura said. "We have to give less opportunities to our rivals and try to make the most of our chances."

The hosts welcome back defender Kamil Glik from suspension while midfielder Omar El Kaddouri must serve a one-match ban.

Parma are without injured defenders Mattia Cassani and Gabriel Paletta.
