Morecambe vs Exeter City preview - Problems stack up for Shrimps

Jim Bentley kept his cards close to his chest with regards to Morecambe's injury list for Sunday's clash with Exeter.

The Shrimps boss revealed he had "quite a few injuries" and could dip into the loan market before the game, but he was tight-lipped on which players may miss out at The Globe Arena.

Bentley did reveal Laurence Wilson is close to a comeback after the defender returned to full training following a long-term knee problem while fellow defender Alan Goodall (hamstring) is close to being available again.

Loanee Tom Barkhuizen is still awaiting his first start for the club while Jack Redshaw (shin splints) will hope to be back in the XI following his late goal against York from the bench.

Liam Sercombe will miss out for Exeter when they make the long trip.

The home-grown midfielder returned to action at Southend last Saturday after a spell on the sidelines with a groin injury but will now miss the Morecambe clash having suffered a hip-flexor strain against the Shrimpers.

While Sercombe is set for a fortnight on the sidelines, David Wheeler, who has endured an injury-hit six weeks, will start once more for the Grecians after an all-action display in their 2-1 win over Wycombe.

And boss Paul Tisdale could name the same XI that toppled the Sky Bet League Two leaders when they head north.
