Borussia Dortmund 0 : 1 Hannover 96 - Hannover add to Dortmund misery

Borussia Dortmund's dismal domestic season continued as they were beaten at home for the third time, going down 1-0 to Hannover.

Hiroshi Kiyotake scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half as the mid-table Reds increased their advantage over Dortmund to six points, despite ending the game with only 10 men as Ceyhun Gulselam saw red.

The Westphalians, who have picked up three wins out of three in the Champions League this season, find themselves just one point and one position above the relegation zone with only seven points from nine Bundesliga fixtures.

It was the same story as it has been for much of the campaign for Dortmund, whose problem is not creating chances, but converting them.

Adrian Ramos and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were particularly guilty in the first half.

Mats Hummels saw his header turned onto the crossbar by Ron Robert Zieler as the fans inside the Westfalenstadion started to get a familiar feeling.

Marco Reus lifted his shot onto the roof of the net from the edge of the area as chance after chance was wasted by Jurgen Klopp's men.

Almost inevitably, they were punished for their profligacy when Kiyotake put Hannover in front with practically their first chance of the game.

The Japanese forward curled a free-kick over the wall and into the top corner, beyond the reach of Roman Weidenfeller.

Kiyotake could have made it two just a few minutes later as Dortmund abandoned their defensive duties and had Weidenfeller to thank that they were still in with a chance.

Joselu was also denied by the Dortmund custodian as the home side's attempts to get back on terms left them looking increasingly susceptible at the back.

Ciro Immobile was sent on by Klopp to vary things in attack, but for all their efforts, they could not find a way back into the game as they crashed to a fifth league defeat in their last six games.
