Newport County vs Accrington Stanley preview - Exiles optimistic on Tancock
Posted Friday, October 24, 2014 by PA
Newport hope defender Scott Tancock will be able to face Accrington.
The Swansea loanee was forced off in their midweek win over Southend after suffering a knock to the ribs and his temporary deal also expired after the final whistle, with the Exiles hopeful of sorting an extension for the centre-back, and fellow Swansea loanee James Loveridge, before kick-off.
But boss Justin Edinburgh is likely to be without Adam Chapman, Danny Crow and Ryan Jackson, who are all a week away from a return, while Rene Howe and Robbie Wilmott will not play again in 2014.
Mark Byrne hopes to shake off a knock to continue in the side having scored the only goal on Tuesday.
Kal Naismith will miss Accrington's trip after it was announced he had been granted compassionate leave.
The striker is set to sit out a third game having returned home to Scotland following the death of his girlfriend.
Full-back Nicky Hunt is expected to shake off illness while Michael Liddle, who is yet to appear under John Coleman this season because of a knee problem, was back in training on Thursday.
That leaves only Adam Buxton (thigh) on the treatment table and it is hoped the full-back will be back among the main group again next week.
