Southend United vs Bury preview - Worrall back for Shrimpers

Southend will be boosted by the return of David Worrall when they host Bury.

The winger missed out on the midweek defeat at Newport through injury but has returned to training with his Shrimpers team-mates and is available to face his former club where he spent two spells.

Mads Idenfeldt's fractured foot keeps the defender out once more while boss Phil Brown may be tempted to ring the changes after their frustrating defeat in south Wales.

Brown confirmed this week that former Stoke striker Mamady Sidibe will not be joining Southend after a recent trial spell.

David Flitcroft's attacking options could be limited as Bury bid to bounce back from their shock 5-0 thrashing by Shrewsbury on Tuesday night.

The Shakers were missing Daniel Nardiello and Clive Platt for that fixture, with the former having injured a groin muscle once again and the latter facing a spell on the sidelines because of a hamstring complaint.

They would join Keil O'Brien on the sidelines, with the ex-non-League defender out for the foreseeable future having undergone surgery on a knee problem.

Former Shakers academy product Tom Kennedy could go straight into the starting line-up after the full-back rejoined the club on loan on Thursday from Rochdale.
