Birmingham vs Bournemouth preview - Davis set to boost Blues

David Davis is set to return for managerless Birmingham to face Bournemouth after overcoming a hip injury.

The midfielder missed Tuesday's 1-0 defeat to Blackburn but has trained this week ahead of the St Andrew's clash.

Stephen Gleeson is a doubt though with a calf injury and Neal Eardley is suspended for caretaker boss Malcolm Crosby.

Blues are due to talk to Burton boss - and their former defender - Gary Rowett over succeeding Lee Clark.

Two-goal hero Brett Pitman will lead the line once more for Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old forward made the most of his second start of the Championship season by scoring twice in Tuesday's emphatic 3-0 win over Reading and he looks set to partner Callum Wilson once more while Yann Kermorgant serves the final match of his three-game ban.

Boss Eddie Howe named an unchanged line-up against the Royals and he could do the same again as they look to take advantage of a dramatic week for Birmingham.

Defender Elliott Ward has stepped up his rehabilitation but is a long way from a first-team return after undergoing a knee operation.
