Walsall vs Chesterfield preview - Saddlers strong for Spireites clash

Boss Dean Smith has a full-strength Walsall side to pick from against Chesterfield after Sam Mantom's return to action.

The midfielder had been out since August with a knee problem but came off the bench in Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at Crawley.

He also played an hour of the reserves' 2-0 win over Port Vale on Wednesday but is likely to start from the bench.

Five-goal top scorer Tom Bradshaw is also available after shrugging off a hamstring injury.

Chesterfield have no new problems and will add Oscar Gobern to their travelling party.

With Daniel Johnson soon to return to Aston Villa at the end of his loan spell, Blues boss Paul Cook has replenished his midfield options by bringing in Gobern on a one-month deal from Huddersfield.

Dan Gardner, Ritchie Humphreys, Romuald Boco and Carl Lamb provide options for Cook elsewhere as the Spireites go in search of a first win in four league matches.

Defenders Sam Hird (knee) and Drew Talbot (groin) are making progress in their recoveries and it is hoped they could both be back in first-team contention during the early part of November.
