Tranmere vs Mansfield preview - Adams to take charge for first time

New boss Micky Adams will pick Tranmere's team for the first time against Mansfield.

The ex-Port Vale manager was hired on Friday and officially began work on Monday, which was when he signed Armand Gnanduillet, and the on-loan striker could come straight into the team for his debut.

Adams has a decision to make over whether to stick with goalkeeper Peter Brezovan or revert back to oft-first choice Owain Fon Williams.

Cole Stockton (pelvis), Danny Woodards (foot), Matt Hill (Achilles) and Liam Ridehalgh (ankle) are all on the treatment table and unavailable for Adams' first match in charge.

Injury-hit Mansfield remain down to the bare bones for the trip to the Wirral.

Stags boss Paul Cox is trying to bolster his squad with loan signings after having just 15 fit players for Saturday's goalless home draw with Cambridge, which included patching up midfielders Fergus Bell (dislocated collarbone) and Simon Heslop (hamstring).

Luke Jones ruptured an Achilles tendon in training last week and looks set to miss the remainder of the season while striker Matt Rhead (hamstring) is also out injured and skipper Adam Murray remains suspended.

Chris Clements, who made a late substitute appearance at Portsmouth recently despite not being fully fit, was rested against Cambridge in the hope he might be fit to face Tranmere - or York at the weekend.
