Substitute Gozie Ugwu missed a late penalty for Forfar as were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw with Dunfermline in Scottish League One.

The visitors pressed early on with midfielder Andrew Stirling rasping a long-range strike just over the crossbar.

Faissal El Bakhtaoui drilled an effort narrowly wide on 31 minutes after being teed up by Forfar's Stephen Husband's miscued clearance.

Dunfermline goalkeeper Ryan Scully had to be alert to deny Gavin Swankie's brilliant shot after the break before doing well to parry Darren Dods' header over the bar.

Forfar had a great opportunity to snatch all three points from 12 yards on 85 minutes after Stuart Malcolm handballed but Ugwu's penalty was saved by Rob Douglas as the game ended goalless.
