Wycombe stay top after win

Josh Scowen's first goal of the season set top-of-the-table Wycombe on their way to a 2-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon at Adams Park.

After a quiet first half, Scowen put the league-leaders ahead on 51 minutes as he ran on to Steven Craig's flicked header before calmly side-footing home.

And with 20 minutes left, Sam Wood made the game safe as he turned home Craig's cross-cum-shot despite calls of offside from the visitors.

Despite being void of any clear-cut chances, the first-half was a feisty affair that saw four players go into half-time with a yellow card to their name.

But the game burst into life five minutes after half-time as Scowen's run went unnoticed by the Dons defence and he picked up Craig's flicked header before slotting past James Shea.

Peter Murphy then went close twice for the home side, first with a dipping volley from the edge of the area before shooting straight at Shea after brilliantly slaloming his way through the Dons defence.

But Wycombe didn't have to wait long for a second as Wood nodded home to stretch the Chairboys' unbeaten league run to ten games.
