Plymouth Argyle 1 : 0 Carlisle - Plymouth continue winning run

John Sheridan's high-flying Plymouth Argyle made it three Sky Bet League Two wins in a row following a 1-0 home victory over Carlisle to end United's three-match winning streak.
Lewis Alessandra scored Argyle's 15th minute winner from close range, first-timing home Dominic Blizzard's cross from the left following a patient build-up.
Carlisle had two efforts cleared off the line by Argyle skipper Curtis Nelson and Lee Cox - from a thumping Brad Potts shot - as they sought a late leveller.
Carlisle central defender Troy Archibald-Henville had made a crucial off the line clearance to deny Alessandra on five minutes after the in-form forward was teed up by Reuben Reid's pinpoint cross from the right.
Bobby Reid came close to increasing Plymouth's lead from a 20-yard second-half free kick that skimmed down the outside of the net.
Substitute Deane Smalley tested Carlisle keeper Dan Hanford with a 20 yard drive after replacing striker Reuben Reid on 73 minutes and the keeper made a superb stop to flap away Alessandra's rising drive.
Archibald-Henville cleared Blizzard's goal-bound header off the line before Carlisle countered with a late rally.
