Manchester United close to agreeing new David de Gea deal worth £120,000 a week – report

Predictably, rumours have begun to circulate about David de Gea‘s future after his performance against Everton and debut for Spain put him in the spotlight.
Last night, Roberto Bonafont reported United were close to agreeing a new five-year £120,000 deal for De Gea that would secure his long-term future at Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old more than deserves that sort of money which is still relatively small in comparison to outfield players and it would be almost doubling his current pay packet, something which his form would have earned him.
It would be fantastic if United were on the verge of securing De Gea’s long term future but as an Ecuadorian journalist with a questionable track record, don’t take Bonafont’s word as gospel.
However, as we said earlier this week, United need to give De Gea everything hat he wants at the club. They simply cannot afford to lose him as directly replacing him would be nigh on impossible on money alone.
Hopefully Bonafont’s reports aren’t entirely wide of the mark because United do need to move as quickly as possible with De Gea.
