Metz vs Rennes preview - Montanier primed for Metz noise

Rennes boss Philippe Montanier is wary of the atmosphere of "great fervour" he expects his players to encounter in Saturday's Ligue 1 away clash with Metz.
Les Grenats have fared well so far on their return to French football's top tier after back-to-back promotions over the last two seasons - and particularly at home.
Albert Cartier's side, with four wins and two draws from their nine games to date this term, are yet to be beaten at Stade Saint-Symphorien after four fixtures there, from which they have collected 10 points.
And Montanier, who will be without forward Ola Toivonen on Saturday due to a thigh problem, said on www.staderennais.com: "The (Metz) public has long been frustrated at not being Ligue 1 and now there is great fervour.
"At home, they are very difficult to beat.
"Also, in their group, the majority of the players have experienced the climbs to Ligue 2 and then Ligue 1, and they have really thrown themselves into their league campaign this season."
Rennes, just below Metz in mid-table, halted a run of three straight defeats when they beat Lens 2-0 at home last time out.
And Red and Blacks defender Fallou Diagne feels it is vital the team use Saturday's contest to keep moving in the right direction.
Diagne said: "It's a very important game for us.
"After our three losses, we relaunched against Lens. We must keep this new dynamic."
Metz were Diagne's first French club, and he added: "They were the side that gave me confidence.
"It's a small regret I did not play in Ligue 1 with them, but now I am doing it with Stade Rennais, and this was my destiny.
"I would be glad to see (Metz vice-president) Carlo Molinari, who always encouraged me.
"I also know (Metz midfielders) Yeni Ngbakoto and Bouna Sarr, and (goalkeeper) Anthony Mfa Mezui.
"They have discovered a high level this season. I'm happy for them. It will be a pleasure to see the fans too. "
