Ozil only told me he heard 'crack in his knee' after scan, claims Wenger

Arsene Wenger claims Mesut Ozil only told him he heard a ‘crack in his knee’ once a scan on the affected area had been carried out.
The Germany star is set for six weeks on the sidelines, after the injury was discovered while he was away on international duty.
Reports on Wednesday suggested the Frenchman allowed the 26-year-old to carry on playing, despite the ex-Real Madrid playmaker telling the Gunners chief during half-time of the 2-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea.
But Wenger insists he did not ask Ozil to play with a serious injury.
“Mesut only told me [about the noise] once it was discovered on the scan,” he said. “He didn’t tell me anything during the game. I didn’t even know.
“Just before the second half, as we were about to go out, the physio told me he had a little pain in his knee but it’s not bad. He wanted to go on.
“I told him that if didn’t feel well, he just had to tell me and I would take him off straight away. He didn’t do that for the whole game.
“I left him on because we were in the position to score a goal and he can deliver the final ball.
“After the [Chelsea] game he went to Germany, and they thought, at the start, that it was nothing.
“They gave him a few days off and on Wednesday morning he said he could still not practise.
“Then they sent him for a scan and in this scan we discovered he had a ligament injury that is quite serious.”
