Bristol City 3 : 2 Chesterfield - Spireites crash and Burns

Substitute Wes Burns smashed an injury-time winner to keep Bristol City clear at the top of League One with a 3-2 victory over Chesterfield at Ashton Gate.

The young striker connected perfectly with a Wade Elliott cross to rifle the ball past Tommy Lee from 12 yards and earn the hosts a win they barely deserved.

A sparkling first half saw City take a ninth-minute lead against the run of play when Joe Bryan's driven cross from the left was powered into his own net by Ian Evatt, sliding to attempt a block at the near post.

The Spireites deservedly equalised after 25 minutes. Eoin Doyle was brought down inside the box by Derrick Williams and got up to net his 14th goal of the season from the spot, shooting down the middle as Frank Fielding dived to his right.

Williams made amends at the start of the second half, rising at the far post to head home Luke Freeman's 46th-minute corner, only for Doyle to fire his second from close range on the hour after Sam Clucas had knocked on a Tendayi Darikwa cross.
