Cambridge produced an emphatic display to beat Oxford 5-1 and secure back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Danny Hylton headed in Tom Newey's cross after nine minutes to give Oxford the lead, but the hosts dominated from then on.

Kwesi Appiah rattled the crossbar from distance and then netted the equaliser three minutes before the break, thumping past Ryan Clarke from Ryan Donaldson's through ball, before giving his side the lead on the stroke of half time at the second attempt following Luke Chadwick's interception.

Ryan Donaldson rattled in his side's third from the edge of the box in the 54th minute after running onto Appiah's pull-back, before Elliott made it 4-1 five minutes later with a thumping header from Greg Taylor's cross.

Oxford's best chance came at 2-1 when Michael Raynes hit the post from close range, while only good saves from Clarke prevented Harrison Dunk and Liam Hughes adding to the score. He was helpless to prevent Robbie Simpson adding a fifth for Cambridge from Donaldson's corner a minute from time.
