Gerard Pique downplays exit talks amid Manchester United rumours

Gerard Pique has responded to rumours linking him with an exit from Barcelona by insisting he has no intention of leaving at any point in the future.
Manchester United's defensive crisis this season has seen Pique chosen as a possibly target for Louis van Gaal by the press but speaking ahead of Spain's Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovakia, he downplayed any talk of a potential exit.
"I love this club for its history, its style of play and the connection to Catalonia," Pique said.
"I love it here and right now I'm at the best club in the world. I've no intention of leaving now or later."
"I've just signed a new contract and I want to retire with Barca, just like Carles Puyol did."
"Nobody knows what the future holds but at the moment I'm loving the city, the people at the club and, most importantly, the institution."
"I don't see myself leaving."
Pique came through at United at such an unlucky time because the partnership of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand meant he was forced to seek opportunities elsewhere.
If it wasn't for that, Pique may not need to be considering a return to United because he may never left.
The Spanish defender certainly has the experience Van Gaal is after but there has been a mixed reaction among fans as to whether he'll solve United's problems.
