York City 0 : 0 Portsmouth - York held by Pompey

Struggling York are still without a home win this season following a goalless draw with Portsmouth.

The Minstermen have now failed to win any of their seven outings at Bootham Crescent in 2014/15 while Pompey are also labouring on the road, having gone four away matches without scoring a goal.

A poor first half saw skipper Danny Hollands go closest for Pompey with an edge-of-the-box shot that flashed narrowly wide.

For York, new loan signing Ryan Brunt called Paul Jones into action with a firm 20-yard drive.

After the break, home winger Ryan Jarvis forced a near-post save from Jones and Lewis Montrose headed over from a Marvin McCoy cross.

At the other end, former England international Nicky Shorey curled a 68th-minute free kick inches wide but Brunt squandered the best chance to claim maximum points.

The former Stoke City reserve headed wide from four yards in the third minute of stoppage time after John McCombe had met Lindon Meikle's cross to the far post.
