Plymouth Argyle 1 : 0 Shrewsbury Town - Pilgrims edge past Shrewsbury

John Sheridan's Plymouth got back to winning ways - beating Shrewsbury 1-0 at Home Park - thanks to top scorer Reuben Reid.

Recalled Reid - who missed last week's loss at Accrington through injury - put the Pilgrims ahead on 33 minutes with a superb header.

On-loan Bristol City midfielder Bobby Reid's corner from the left was cleared but the youngster immediately sent over a first-time cross with pace which Reuben Reid powered past Town keeper Jason Leutwiler for his sixth goal of the season.

Leutwiler did well to scramble back and palm over midfielder Dominic Blizzard's audacious and deceptive dipping shot from the left just minutes later as Plymouth tried to double their lead.

Shrewsbury's best first-half opportunity of a close encounter came when striker James Collins' angled shot forced Plymouth keeper Luke McCormick to save with his outstretched leg in the 12th minute.

McCormick was the busier of the two keepers in the second half, making a brilliant save to palm Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro's close-range header onto the bar and denying Collins again as Town pressed for a leveller.
