Falkirk 2 : 1 Alloa Athletic - Falkirk back to winning ways

Posted Sunday, October 05, 2014 by PA

Falkirk ended a run of three successive league draws with a much-needed 2-1 victory over Alloa at the Falkirk Stadium.

The home side started brightly and they were rewarded in the 16th minute when defender Peter Grant powered home a header from a Craig Sibbald corner for his first goal for the club.

But Alloa drew level just before the break from the penalty spot, with Liam Buchanan converting after David McCracken had pulled him down in the box.

Both sides had good chances to get their noses in front, but it was Falkirk who managed to steal all three points after 70 minutes when 19-year-old defender Luke Leahy volleyed smartly past a despairing Craig McDowall in the Alloa goal.
