Blackburn Rovers vs Huddersfield Town preview - Rovers could be without nine

Blackburn's list of absentees for Huddersfield's visit to Ewood Park could include nine players.

Midfielder Corry Evans will serve a one-match ban, while David Dunn (knee), Jason Lowe (ankle), Paul Robinson (knee) and Chris Brown (knee) are all out injured.

Top scorer Rudy Gestede (hamstring), Tom Cairney (groin) and Alex Baptiste (calf) are all doubtful while full-back Tommy Spurr, who is yet to play this season because of a groin complaint, made his first 45-minute cameo for the Under-21s on Monday.

Jordan Rhodes should lead the line, though, and he has scored five goals in the four games he has played against his former club since joining Rovers in 2012.

Huddersfield skipper Lee Peltier is still struggling with a calf injury and remains doubtful after missing the midweek win at Wolves.

Boss Chris Powell, whose side is chasing a third straight league win, must decide whether to stick with a 4-3-3 formation that proved so successful at Wolves, where he handed a first start to loan signing Grant Holt and dropped fellow striker Nahki Wells to the bench.

Powell, who has no major new injury worries, could be boosted by the return to the squad of forward Martin Paterson (knee) and defender Anthony Gerrard (calf).

Striker James Vaughan (calf) remains sidelined, while winger Danny Ward is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up.
