Bury vs Tranmere Rovers preview - Mayor out for Shakers

Bury will be missing midfielder Danny Mayor when they bid to get back to winning ways against Tranmere.

Mayor will serve a one-game suspension having accrued his fifth yellow card of the season in the 2-1 reverse to Exeter, which saw the Shakers surrender top spot in Sky Bet League Two.

Defender Keil O'Brien is a long-term absentee with a knee problem while former Rovers midfielder Joe Thompson has been slowly rebuilding his fitness since his last appearance on August 12.

Ryan Lowe, another ex-Tranmere employee, will hope to start against the club who he scored 20 goals for last season.

Struggling Tranmere have no new injury or suspension concerns.

Full-back Liam Ridehalgh returned to training this week following his ankle problem but still needs to do more ball work before he can begin to be considered.

Danny Woodards (foot) and Matt Hill (Achilles) remain absent, depleting manager Rob Edwards' defensive options further.

Rovers have also found the net just once in their previous four fixtures so joint top-scorer Cole Stockton may earn a recall to the starting line-up.
