Charlton Athletic vs Birmingham preview - Ben Haim missing for Addicks

Charlton will be without Tal Ben Haim when they host Birmingham at The Valley.

The centre-half has been given permission to miss the match so he can observe the Jewish holy day Yom Kippur.

Joe Gomez also looks set to miss out after picking up an ankle knock during Tuesday's win against Norwich so Chris Solly, who was rested at Carrow Road, returns at right-back.

Winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson remains sidelined with the ankle injury which kept him out in midweek.

Jonathan Spector has been ruled out for three months after tearing his thigh muscle.

The defender suffered the injury late on in the 2-1 defeat to Fulham last week and a scan confirmed the problem.

Birmingham could be unchanged after they claimed their second win of the season at Millwall on Tuesday.

Their 3-1 victory ended an eight-game barren streak and eased some pressure off boss Lee Clark. Long-term injury victims Matt Smith and Gavin Gunning (both knee) remain out.
