Forfar Athletic 3 : 1 Brechin City - Forfar lead the way

Forfar moved to the top of Scottish League One with a 3-1 win at home to Brechin.

The hosts went ahead after 12 minutes when midfielder Danny Denholm smashed a shot into the roof of the net following Omar Kader's initial effort.

Dale Hilson doubled Forfar's advantage when he tapped in midfielder Kader's cutback in the 34th minute.

Brechin gave themselves hope right on the stroke of half-time after Colin Hamilton finished off a lovely sweeping move.

Forward Andrew Jackson had a great chance to level proceedings from Robert Barr's cross but his header flashed over the crossbar.

That miss proved costly as Forfar extended their lead in the 81st minute when Hilson kept his cool from the penalty spot after being brought down by Darren McCormack.
