Paris St Germain continued their unbeaten start to the season and moved into second in the Ligue 1 table following a 2-0 victory over Caen at Stade Michel-d'Ornano.

Lucas handed the visitors the lead midway through the first half before Marquinhos made the points safe 10 minutes after the break.

The win moved reigning champions PSG up three places to sit three points behind leaders Marseille, while Caen dropped down to 14th as they remained winless from their last four games.

PSG suffered a setback early on as they lost Argentina international Ezequiel Lavezzi to an injury after 12 minutes but it did not take them long to break the deadlock and five minutes later Lucas netted the opener.

Edinson Cavani released the Brazilian, who dribbled past a few players before shooting from 10 yards to slot the ball home with a great left-footed shot.

The home side attempted to come back 10 minutes before the break as Julien Feret freed Jordan Adeoti in the middle of the 18-yard box and the Caen defender sent a powerful shot underneath the crossbar, but goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu made a good reflex save to keep the ball out.

PSG came close with a couple of efforts as the game approached half-time and started the second half well as Javier Pastore tested Caen stopper Remy Vercoutre with a long-range shot as play resumed.

The hosts were still trying to pull a goal back and Herve Bazile missed a great opportunity to equalise before Marquinhos made it two for Laurent Blanc's side as he headed home from Jean-Christophe Bahebeck corner at the far post.

Just after the hour mark, Duhamel freed Bengali Koita just outside the 18-yard box as Caen attempted a comeback but he was unfortunate as his heavy shot sailed just inches past the post.

And PSG could have netted a third late on had Clement Chantome's effort beaten Vercoutre after 84 minutes.
