York City vs Southend United preveiw - Worthington ponders changes

York are struggling to hit the heights they reached last season and boss Nigel Worthington could shuffle his pack for the home game against Southend.

The Minstermen have drawn blanks in their last two matches and although last week's defeat at Burton was their first in the league this season, they have registered just one win.

Worthington has no new injury or suspension problems, but his attacking options remain limited and he must decide whether to recall Anthony Straker on the right wing or stick with Tom Platt after the goalless midweek draw with Luton.

Michael Coulson provides an option out wide and that could mean a start for Jake Hyde up front as York bid for their first home win of the season.

Ryan Leonard is an injury doubt for Southend.

Leonard was forced off with a hamstring injury during the first half of Tuesday night's 1-0 win at Cheltenham and the midfielder will continue to be assessed ahead of the weekend.

Centre-back Cian Bolger could come back into the reckoning after recovering from a thigh strain, while striker Barry Corr is expected to return from a neck injury.

Shrimpers boss Phil Brown told the club's official website: "We go up to York buoyed by the fact we've got two wins and two clean sheets under our belts. We know it'll be a tough game, they have a number of players who are very capable at this level."
