Evans: Shaw can become the world’s best left-back at Man Utd

Jonny Evans has backed Luke Shaw to become the best left-back in the world during his career.
The 19-year-old arrived for nearly £30m in the summer and became one of Manchester United‘s most expensive ever teenagers after joining from Southampton.
There are big hopes he can follow in the footsteps of Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand in more than paying back his big fee with service to the club, something Evans is confident he can achieve.
"Looking at our new defenders, Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw, I’ve been really impressed," Evans told United Review.
"I watched Marcos at the World Cup and thought he was excellent for Argentina whether he played at left-back or left wing-back, and he can play centre-back too."
"I had the chance to work with Luke in pre-season and there is no doubt he is going to be the best left-back in the world."
Shaw is yet to make his competitive debut for United but Evans must have real belief in his ability to come out and put that sort of pressure on him straight away.
United showed that same belief by paying such a high price for Shaw and if he can indeed fulfil his potential and become United’s left-back for the next decade, then the big fee paid for him will be nothing in comparison to how much value he brought to the club.
