Defender opens the scoring but hardly celebrates - Pique redeems himself

Gerard Piqué redeemed himself this Wednesday with Barcelona's first goal in this season's Champions League. The Barça centre-back, who has only started one league game so far this season, opened the scoring with a pinpoint header.
With the Catalans' struggling to break the deadline because of APOEL's deep defensive set-up, it had to come from a set-piece. The goal came in the 28th minute after Alves was fouled on the wing. Messi crossed the ball high into the area. There it found Piqué, who headed home past the keeper's left-hand post.
The Barça and Spain centre-back barely celebrated his goal. He has been the subject of recent criticism and, since Luis Enrique's arrival at the club, he has lost his place in the first-team's starting line-up.
