Cheltenham Town 1 : 0 Hartlepool United FC - Super sub Arthur sinks Pools
Posted Sunday, August 31, 2014 by PA
Substitute Koby Arthur scored a last-minute winner to send Cheltenham top of the table with a 1-0 home win over Hartlepool.
The Robins dominated throughout but were denied by the woodwork three times as the Pools goal lived a charmed life.
Five minutes before the break, Terry Gornell shot on the turn but his effort cracked against the outside of the post.
It was the same in the second half with Gornell having a header cleared off the line from a corner and then, moments later, he skied an effort from eight yards.
With Cheltenham's defence rock solid, Hartlepool's chances were few and far between - but the woodwork continued to save the visitors.
Substitute John Marquis crashed a shot against the foot of the post and then had a late header brilliantly turned on to the crossbar by goalkeeper Scott Flinders.
But just as it looked as though it would finish all square, on loan striker Arthur popped up to head in the 90th-minute winner for his third goal of the campaign.
