Tranmere Rovers vs Morecambe preview - Rovers wait on Gill

Tranmere are hopeful Matt Gill will be available for the visit of unbeaten Morecambe to Prenton Park.

The midfielder has been plagued by illness and missed Thursday's training session as a result, although boss Rob Edwards is keeping his fingers crossed the bug will have passed by Saturday.

That would give Edwards a fully-fit squad - barring full-back Liam Ridehalgh, who is still yet to feature this term because of an ankle problem.

Defender Danny Holmes (back) returned to the bench against Cheltenham last Saturday and will be keen for more than a 33-minute cameo this time around.

Sky Bet League Two leaders Morecambe will be without Laurence Wilson but have signed Joe Widdowson on loan from Bury and he should come straight in.

The only side in the Football League with a 100 per cent record after four games must make a change in their defence after Wilson was diagnosed with a knee ligament injury, putting him out of action for two months.

Boss Jim Bentley has moved to sign Widdowson before kick-off, though, and also had Ryan Edwards (fractured fingers) back in training on Thursday.

Andy Parrish (ankle) was also back on the training ground this week but this contest may come too soon for the defender.
