Stenhousemuir 4 : 5 Stirling Albion - Stirling performance sinks Stenny
Posted Sunday, August 24, 2014 by PA
Stirling edged out Stenhousemuir 5-4 in a goal bonanza at Ochilview Park.
The home side went in front when Bryan Hodge poked in, but the Binos levelled on the half-hour mark when defender Craig Wedderburn headed in a Craig Comrie corner.
The Warriors established a half-time lead when Sean Dickson beat Greg Paterson from outside the area.
Two goals in under two minutes turned the match on its head. Gordon Smith fired in from long range, and Sandy Cunningham put Stirling in front from Darren Smith's pass.
Darren Smith then made it 4-2, but Hodge halved the deficit within three minutes after his initial shot had hit the post.
The two Smiths combined for Stirling on 69 minutes, Gordon rounding the keeper to clinch a pulsating encounter by rolling into the net.
Comrie put through his own goal late on, but it came too late for Stenhousemuir.
