Dagenham and Redbridge 2 : 0 Mansfield Town - Howell and Ogogo on target again

Posted Sunday, August 24, 2014 by PA

Dagenham picked up their first home win of the season with goals in either half from Luke Howell and Abu Ogogo against Mansfield.

The same duo netted in the 2-0 win at Hartlepool on Tuesday night, and once again they combined to good effect to make it two victories on the spin for Wayne Burnett's side.

There was little to separate the two sides in the opening 45 minutes, with neither goalkeeper forced to make a save.

But the hosts edged in front in first-half stoppage time when experienced striker Jamie Cureton cut the ball back for Howell, who slotted past Stags keeper Sascha Studer from six yards.

The opening to the second period was equally cagey, until the Daggers doubled their lead on the hour mark when Howell's initial shot was blocked, but it fell kindly into the path of Ogogo whose deflected effort left Studer stranded.

Substitute Sam Clucas went closest to giving Mansfield a way back into the game but his effort was cleared off the line by Brian Saah.
