Fabregas would have picked Man United over Chelsea, claims McGrath

Paul McGrath has expressed his amazement that Manchester United did not bid for Cesc Fabregas, insisting he would have jumped at the chance to move to Old Trafford.
Fabregas signed for Chelsea from Barcelona in a £27million deal this summer and enjoyed a stunning debut for the Blues against Burnley on Monday night.
But McGrath believes the Spain midfielder should have been wearing a United shirt this season, and says the failure to land the former Arsenal captain is down to a lack of leadership at his old club.
"I’m sure Cesc Fabregas would have picked Man United [over Chelsea] simply because of the history. Most people believe that United is the bigger club, with the history and everything else," said the Red Devils legend, speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
"It is amazing we can’t get these players. I think it is a lack of leadership on the Manchester United side. The club doesn’t need selling because people want to play for them but it is going out there, getting those players, and doing it quick.”
Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo have all joined United this summer, but are not the world-class arrivals many fans were anticipating.
Chief executive Ed Woodward is under intense to deliver big-name signings before the window closes, and McGrath has questioned why he has not done more business.
"I can’t believe this summer, even with Van Gaal away at the World Cup, that they didn’t have things put in place. They seem to be doing business late," he said.
"Manchester United supporters want to see quality players come into the club, the biggest club in the world, and no one seems to have thought about that."
