Stirling Albion 1 : 3 Ayr Utd. - Two wins from two for Ayr

Posted Sunday, August 17, 2014 by PA

Ayr kept up their perfect start to the League One season with a 3-1 win away at Stirling.

Following on from last weekend's 1-0 win over Morton, Alan Forrest's brace maintained their 100 per cent start.

They were ahead after just five minutes when Forrest poked home, reacting quickest to a loose ball in the box.

The midfielder grabbed his brace 11 minutes into the second half with a wonderful curling effort after being teed up by Brian Gilmour.

Stirling hit back through a Gordon Smith penalty in the 66th minute when Martyn Campbell was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box.

However their chances of a comeback were short-lived as Ayr made it 3-1 two minutes later thanks to Gilmour, who finished from close range following a corner.
