Man City's Samir Nasri blasts 'stupid' Arsenal fans ahead of the Community Shield

SAMIR NASRI expects an earful of abuse from his old Arsenal fans today but says: “I just think it’s stupid.”

Nasri, who joined Manchester City in the summer of 2011 after three seasons with the Gunners, fiercely refutes claims that he's a traitor.

He denies that he has "betrayed" his former club as Arsenal and City come face-to-face at Wembley today in their Community Shield showdown.

Nasri, 27, who claims he is more mature, is also not happy with the snipers who allege that he quit the Emirates to fill his pockets with Abu Dhabi gold.

But after putting the record straight with the angry Arsenal faithful, he refuses to gloat about the prizes he's won at the Etihad while Arsene Wenger finished potless before his FA Cup triumph last season.

The City midfield star would never hold up his two Premier League titles to rub the Gooners' noses in it with a huge smile on his face.

Nasri, asked if he was affected by the abuse, said: "I just think it's stupid. I'm not an Arsenal fan. I'm not from London.

"If we want to be honest, we are players and we are just looking at what's the best interest for us and for our career.

"When Manchester City came in it was the best choice to come here.

"Today I have won trophies. I'm really happy about everything and I have a better life.

"So if the fans cannot move on then it's too bad. I'm not trying to have any problem with that. They do what they have to do.

"They love their club. Maybe they see that as treason or I betrayed them. It's not that. I'm not like that. I just looked at what was best for me.

"That's what Bacary Sagna did. That's what Emmanuel Adebayor did. That's what Kolo Toure did. The only reason for the fans is that it has to be for the money.

"But it's not just the money. OK, it's a factor. It's important nowadays. But if someone earns £200,000, £150,000 or £100,000 a week it's not this which is going to make a difference or have an impact on your life."

It would be easy to point to the trophies Nasri has won to justify his move from the Emirates but that's never on his agenda.

Nasri added: "I don't think it would be nice for me to do that. I'm trying to be more mature not involved in these things because I have had a lot of problems in the past.

"I'm in debt to Arsene Wenger and Arsenal because I am this player today because of him. I'm 27 and I had to deal with many complicated situations. I made mistakes like everyone.

"I'm trying to be more calm and relaxed about everything. Just enjoy every day as I'm lucky to be a football player and do what I do."
