The Red Devils have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon star William Carvalho.
According to reports, United's Premier League rivals Arsenal are closing in on the midfielder, and could sign him by the end of the week.
Wilfried Zaha looks set to leave Old Trafford this summer.
The 21-year-old has agreed personal terms with three clubs, and could officially leave United in the next few days.
Liverpool are set to boost United in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.
New United boss Louis Van Gaal is keen to bring the Germany World Cup winner to Old Trafford and wants him to be the leader in his new three-man defence.
Dortmund are now bracing themselves for his departure and are targeting a loan deal for Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori.
Liverpool are willing to let Ilori join Dortmund on a temporary basis, which would in turn open the door for Hummels to leave for United.
Napoli remain confident of securing a deal to sign United flop Marouane Fellaini.
The Belgium international is understood to have agreed terms to join Rafa Benitez & co in Naples.
But the two clubs are still at loggerheads over the type of transfer.
United want to axe Fellaini on a permanent basis, while Napoli are keen on a season-long loan deal.
It is believed United are demanding £18m for the midfielder, who only joined the club last summer from Everton for £27.5m.
