Andy Mitten believes there is still plenty of transfer activity to come from Manchester United this summer and has said the club is actively pursuing two or three players in the confidence that deals can be closed.
Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw‘s arrival within the space of 24 hours was a fantastic start to the transfer window but there are hopes they are not the only incoming players and if United’s confidence isn’t misplaced, that won’t be the case.
“I still think there’s a lot of transfer activity to come. United actively pursuing 2 or 3 and are confident of closing the deals,” Mitten said on his PlayUp app.
The big question is who United are pursuing as there have been a host of names linked with a move to Old Trafford including (but not limited to) Arturo Vidal, Alexis Sanchez, Daley Blind, Thomas Vermaelen, Mats Hummels, William Carvalho, Memphis Depay and Nigel de Jong.
For United fans, Vidal is the stand-out player. There is no better box-to-box midfielder in world football right now and his signing would be the marquee arrival Ed Woodward so clearly wants and precisely the player United are in desperate need of.
Defensively, a new centre-back is a necessity for United this season so the likes of Hummels, Vermaelen and Blind are also high up on the priority list as well.
Ed Woodward‘s excellent negotiations for Herrera and Shaw has given United fans a new found confidence that more deals can be finalised before the transfer window closes.
