Manchester United have agreed a deal with Feyenoord for defender Stefan de Vrij, according to reports.
The Red Devils are desperate to replace Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, who have both left the club this summer, and have turned to the Dutch centre-back.
Serie A side Lazio had thought they had tied up a deal for the 22-year-old before the World Cup, but the move fell through.
And that has opened the door to Louis van Gaal, who is currently coaching De Vrij with the Netherlands side in Brazil.
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport the stopper, who only has one year left on his deal, will move to Old Trafford for around £8million.
The defender becomes the Van Gaal's third singing of the summer, following moves for Atletico Madrid's Ander Herrera and Southampton left-back Luke Shaw.
