Liverpool have made an improved £25m bid for Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana, according to Sky sources.
Adam Lallana: Southampton midfielder a summer transfer target for Liverpool
Southampton rejected a £20m bid from Liverpool for Lallana earlier this month, but the Merseysiders have returned with another offer for the England international.
Liverpool are thought to be determined to complete the deal before Roy Hodgson's squad fly out to the World Cup.
Lallana, who played 73 minutes in England's 3-0 friendly win over Peru, could link-up with international and club team-mate Rickie Lambert at Anfield.
The Saints striker is expected to be confirmed as a Liverpool player on Monday, barring any last-minute hitches, as he prepares to undergo a medical after a £4m fee was agreed.
It has been a tumultuous last week for Southampton, with manager Mauricio Pochettino leaving to take charge of Tottenham, while they face the prospect of losing at least two of their star players.
