Cowdenbeath vs Ayr Utd. preview - Skipper struggling for Cowdenbeath

Cowdenbeath have Sammy Stewart out with an ankle injury and are sweating on the fitness of captain John Armstrong as they host Ayr three days after securing a 2-1 first-leg advantage in their play-off clash.

Armstrong has injured a toe and manager Jimmy Nicholl said: "John is a huge player for us and we will be doing everything to get him on the park. Ayr have good forwards and can mix things up with the physical presence of Kevin Kyle so we need our strongest defence to keep them out.

"We did well to establish a lead but we have to keep our concentration levels high to make it through."

Ayr head to Central Park with the attack-minded Michael Donald available after a one-match ban and defender Martyn Campbell set to return after a calf injury.

Player-manager Mark Roberts is confident if his defence stands strong his men will progress, saying: "Cowdenbeath were very impressive in the opening stages and we were two goals down before we could control them. However our late goal puts things in the balance.

"If we can keep them quiet I know I have the players who can get us a goal to level things up whether that is in the first minute or the last minute."
