Hellas Verona vs Udinese preview - Mandorlini set for Verona stay

Hellas Verona fans can breathe a big sigh of relief with news that coach Andrea Mandorlini is set to remain at the club next season.

Club president Maurizio Setti announced ahead of Saturday's home match against Udinese that Hellas intends to keep Mandorlini at least for another year.

Mandorlini, who is in his fourth season at the helm of the Mastini, becomes a free agent this summer.

"Mandorlini will soon sign a contract extension," Setti said. "There are no problems whatsoever and we are in agreement.

"We will continue together."

Hellas have collected 53 points from 36 games and will be looking to bounce back from last weekend's painful 3-3 draw at Lazio.

The men from Verona looked to be heading for their 17th win of the campaign only for Lazio to strike a last-gasp equaliser.

The result dropped Hellas to ninth place, two points behind Torino, who are sixth and hold the last European qualifying spot.

"We are not giving up on Europe and we will fight until the end," Setti said. "Our city and a club like us, that only gained promotion to the top-flight last season, must be proud of what we have achieved.

"Saturday's game must be a celebration for what we have done this season regardless of the result.

"Of course, it would be fantastic if we won."

Unlike Hellas, rivals Udinese have endured a dismal campaign.

The Friuli outfit lies 13th in the standings, 12 points adrift of Hellas.

Udinese's 5-3 triumph over Livorno last time out halted a four-match winless run and was their second win in seven games.

"We deserve to be where we are in the table," Udinese coach Francesco Guidolin said. "we will look to end the season with two wins."

Guidolin has yet to confirm if he will continue to guide the Friuli outfit next season.

"As far as my future goes, I will not discussing it until the end of the season," he said.

Udinese have not won on the road since beating Bologna 2-0 on February 1 and have collected two points since away from home.
