Arbroath 1 : 2 Dunfermline - Smokies suffer survival blow
Posted Sunday, April 27, 2014 by PA
Arbroath remain bottom of the table going into the final weekend of the season after a 2-1 defeat to Dunfermline.
Andrew Geggan struck 11 minutes from time to prevent Arbroath moving above East Fife into ninth in the table.
Ryan Thomson sent the second-placed Pars into a 14th-minute lead, following up after Scott Morrison failed to hold Stephen Husband's shot before Robert Linn fired narrowly wide as the hosts pushed for a way back into the game.
The Smokies got their deserved equaliser 11 minutes into the second period when Michael Travis forced the ball home from a corner but, with the game approaching the final 10 minutes, Geggan popped up to slot in from close range and secure a first win in four attempts.
