Airdrie United 2 : 1 East Fife - Airdrie avoid the drop

Airdrie clinched survival with two games remaining after beating East Fife 2-1 at the Excelsior stadium.

James Lister failed to test Fife's Greg Paterson early on with a weak effort and Airdrie's Liam Watt soon smashed a good opportunity over the bar.

Watt went close again, this time forcing Paterson into a save and Scott Durie's curling shot was kept out by the Diamonds' Grant Adam.

Caolan McAleer put the Honest Men into an early second-half lead when he tucked past Paterson at his near post.

Fife defender Steve Campbell soon put the sides level again, nestling his header into the top corner of the Airdrie goal

James Lister found space to fire a crucial winner for the home side late on to secure their status in Scottish League One.
