Scottish Challenge Cup winners Raith were brought back down to earth as they lost 3-1 at home to Dumbarton.

Six days ago Rovers were celebrating an unlikely 1-0 win over Rangers at Easter Road, but they were unable to continue that form in the league on an afternoon when they were reduced to 10 men.

The visitors opened the scoring 22 minutes in as Garry Fleming's flick from Jordan Kirkpatrick's free-kick found Mark Gilhaney, who drilled the ball into the far corner.

Mitchel Megginson added a second six minutes later, placing the ball past goalkeeper Lee Robinson.

Colin Nish grabbed a third after the break when he diverted Gilhaney's shot past the wrong-footed Robinson.

Gordon Smith's curling effort offered Raith a glimmer of hope, but Douglas Hill's red card 14 minutes from time halted any chance of a late comeback.
