Queen of South 1 : 2 Falkirk - Bairns stay in race

Posted Sunday, April 13, 2014 by PA

Ten-man Falkirk kept their title hopes alive with a narrow 2-1 win at Queen of the South.

Stephen Mckenna almost opened the scoring for the hosts when his header crashed off the bar.

But it was Blair Alston who struck first, curling the ball past keeper Zander Clark midway through the second half.

A mix-up in the Queen's defence saw Mark Beck react quickest and his lob left Clark stranded to double the visitors' advantage.

Queen's Gavin Reilly pulled one back when he smashed the ball in after Chris Higgens' shot cannoned off the bar.

Falkirk were then reduced to 10 men when Jonny Flynn saw red for a late challenge on Iain Russell.
