Stranraer vs Airdrie preview - Stirling out for Stranraer

Posted Friday, March 28, 2014 by PA

Stranraer will be without Stephen Stirling against Airdrie as he is starting a two-game suspension.

Chris Aitken (ankle) and Marc Corcoran (groin) are also absent but Steven Bell is available after a knock.

Manager Stephen Aitken is looking for the win that will take his side to within touching distance of a play-off place.

Aitken said: "This is a really important game as winning it puts us very close to the finishing line. We looked much more like ourselves last week against Stenhousemuir so we are looking forward to the game.

"It will not be easy as Airdrie have done brilliantly under Gary Bollan."

Airdrie's on-loan Partick winger Coalan McAleer misses out through suspension but defender Paddy Boyle has shaken off a knock and will travel.

Injuries rule out Chris O'Neill (groin), Grant Drummond (knee) and John Boyle (knee) as the Diamonds look to build on last weekend's 5-1 win over Forfar.

Manager Bollan said: "It was a very competent performance and we scored goals at the right times. I would be delighted with the same again against a Stranraer side who look to have ended a disappointing run.

"They are a good side who beat us well at Stair Park earlier this season so we are in for a tough afternoon."
